Directional MEMS array boom microphone concepts, 2019. These concepts are driven by the technology contained rather the cultural expectations of a boom microphone (based on ECM microphone requirements). An experiment in updating form to match updated technology.

MEMS arrays work by triangulating directionality, meaning there must be multiple MEMS microphones present. The above concepts show elongated concepts that allow 20-30mm of space between microphone ports, the minimum distance required for effective background noise cancellation, and utilize a single PCB substrate for both MEMS microphones to save cost and simplify assembly.

 
 
 
 
 

Actions upon solids experimentations, 2020. A sculptural experiment about actions upon a consistent solid, relationships between solid and surface, and the use of process and material as dictators of color and finish. Mold manufacturing method, material selection, and actions taken during the casting process itself create variety and interest on the surfaces of these forms, while the strong geometric simplicities of the overall composition create balance and approachability.
